Tom has over 20 years of experience in engineering for the semiconductor and electronics industry and is currently employed at OryonTechnology, where his primary responsibility is technology transfer. In this capacity, he has traveled extensively in developing Asian countries building factory processes that include integration of electrical systems into clothing. Although he has enjoyed the opportunities offered him by his career, nonprofit work is Tom’s passion. He has worked with the Boy Scouts of America as either a youth or adult advisor for over 35 years. In addition, he has served on the board of directors for the Austin Youth Soccer Association as the corporate sponsor liaison and in the local school Parent Teacher Organization as Treasurer and President.
In addition to his secular activities, Tom is actively involved in his church where he has served diligently his entire adult life. Most of this service has focused on youth programs. He also led a local congregation for six years where he managed an active program for financially assisting struggling individuals and families. He also became actively involved with the needs for the homeless during this time.
His current interests include the development of off-grid power systems. These include solar systems and generators powered by natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas. He is developing applications for both areas remote to electrical networks and backup systems for emergency requirements. He is also interested in solutions where site based electrical generation is cost competitive with power available from utilities.
Tom is the proud father of seven children and loves spending time with his wife and his growing family. (One grandchild here and two more on the way)
